A very interesting upcoming event

On March 5th R' Feldman, R' Moshe Aharon Shechter, and R' Matisyahu Solomon, are going to be speaking in Teaneck on PERSPECTIVES ON TIMELESS ISSUES. I assume the Slifkin ban will be one of the topics of discussion. You can see the flyer here. I would really like to get a summary of this event so if anyone atends please let me know.

  2. I also thought that and then I saw Moshe in the ad, now that I checked I see that it is R' Aharon Moshe Shechter.

You must be joking. No way will they be discussing that. And no way will there be an open question session. It's a kavod event for them, they won't let them look stupid,

Main Line and Charles are right on the mark.

I do not expect that they will go beyond the well-trodden "Klal Yisrael, Achudus, Kavod HaTorah, yirah ... blah, blah, blah" bromides.

While this certainly should be commended as a first step, if they don't address the issue of 'mutual' respect of the divergent machanos and if it stops here, this is nothing more significant than Ping-Pong in China. Further, if they avoid this elephant in the room, it also will come off to many as condescending.

I personally hope for more, and given this 'ambitious' foray (isn't that a pathetic comment on both of our machanos!) it is obvious that these Rabbonim also hope for more on a personal level, but given the self-congratulatory nature of prior public statements (take a look at the Jewish Observer for serious self-analysis and self-critcism - you'll be looking for a long time) I frankly do not expect it.
